Patrick Henry’s Red Hill
Custom Website with E-commerce
Project Overview
The Red Hill Patrick Henry National Memorial organization aims to preserve the history of Henry’s estate from the 18th Century. Their first website was built in 1998, and while it had been tweaked over the years, by 2019 it was aesthetically outdated, slow to load, lacked mobile responsiveness, and was difficult to navigate. The nonprofit needed a new, attractive custom website to communicate with visitors, digitally sell items from their museum shop, securely process online donations, and promote upcoming events.
Our Solution
Our team began working with the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation in 2020 to design and build a fully customized website to promote Red Hill and drive digital revenue through online merchandise and ticket sales, and donations. We started the project by reviewing the current website’s analytics, mapping out the new site’s architecture, and analyzing existing content. After gathering data and developing a web strategy, our web team designed and coded a fully custom website.
We also integrated 434’s proprietary analytics software, DM Validate, which enables our retail and tourism clients to correlate website visits with real, in-person visits to their advertised destination. We also provided an initial SEO setup, configured the YOAST SEO feature, and submitted the site’s map to Google.
Our team touched base with the client weekly at a minimum throughout the project duration and held monthly check-in calls. Once the website was ready to go live, we held training sessions as well as on-demand video tutorials for our client’s team, equipping them with all of the skills needed to manage the website’s content.
