Award-Winning Custom Website for Virginia's GO TEC Initiative
Project Overview
Funded in part by the GO Virginia State Board, The Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC) initiative delivers workforce training and skill development to children, youth, and young adults in the Commonwealth. In March 2020, the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research was ready to invest in a new website to raise awareness of the GO TEC initiative. The site had to be eye-catching while clearly telling the right narrative to engage community members and stakeholders alike.
Our Solution
We began working with the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in March 2020 and launched the website three months later. Our process began with data collection and feedback from leadership. The client also sought input from students, educators, industry stakeholders, economic developers, and the GO TEC advisory board.
Their collective feedback guided the development. After collecting data, we built a custom, mobile-responsive, and ADA-compliant website for GO TEC developed on the WordPress CMS. We completed the initial SEO set-up to help improve the organization’s search rankings and ported over all of the web content. Six months after launch, the GO TEC Website was awarded a 2020 Gold Summit Award from the Public Relations Society of America.

Project Outcomes
Six months after launch, the GO TEC Website was awarded a 2020 Gold Summit Award from the Public Relations Society of America. Website traffic to the site continues to accrue over time, with a 40% increase from 2020 to 2021.
